~ I said....NO BUTTS! ~

My son Lu (3) is a bright little boy who I am proud to say is extraordinarily innocent for his age. He is hyper but has a super gentle way about him. You know, the kind that just makes ya just wanna grab someone and kiss em' all over, but he does have certain quirks about him that make me go WHAT?! For instance, he has this thing that he loves to do where he sticks his hand up my shirt sleeve and then rolls his little fingers around underneath my arms. He has done it as long as I can remember. I figured it was because I nursed him and he used to take that tiny hand and caress me while he fed. When he was a baby it was endearing... precious even. Now that he's older it's just plain strange. He follows me around the house saying, "Pocket.... Pocket." (That's what he calls it.)  I find myself saying.... "Son, just leave my armpit alone!!!!" at least 5 times a day! It sure is a good thing I'm not ticklish. As strange as this is I never dreamed there would be something that could top it, but I believe he has done it. The last week or so he goes around the house caressing ever so softly, everyone's tush. I'll be dusting around the house and hear my 9 year old yell... "Mom!!! Lu won't stop touching my butt!"  Now there's something you don't hear everyday! My husband gets furious... "Son, if you don't stop!!!" as he shoots me a glance that says... 'You'd better get your son.' I've even started bathing his little sister Evi (age 2) separately because during their bath playtime I would step right outside the door to do dishes (keeping a close ear of course,) and hear him shout, "Mom, Evi's butt is sooo cute!." Isn't it too early for all this?! I mean, I know he's a boy and all-but 3?!!! I know that it's all just a matter of curiosity but it's driving me crazy. I swear, I never thought I'd see the day that I had to say "Son, I said No Butts!" and mean it literally. Kids crack me up! They are like grabbing a surprise sack from a flea market. There's absolutely no telling what's going to be hiding in the fold of that brown paper sack. It pops out just when you think you have gotten out all of the goodies. Sometimes what pops out is an absolute Gem and others... well, others you just look at it and go- "What is it?"  I guess not knowing everything about someone is what makes them so special though and what an amazing opportunity we have as mothers to watch these little people develop personalities! :-)
