~ Mind your temper! ~
It must have been around 8:00. The children were watching their final episode of "Super Why" before bedtime. I was buzzing around trying to get the housework done before I put them to sleep so I could have some "Me time," when I heard the sound of a thousand armies coming from my living room. I quickly tossed the armload of laundry and rushed to see what was going on. There they were- my two destroyers- covered head to toe in ranch dressing and slinging it joyfully all about the carpet, drapes, and couches. I could feel my ears turning red, (they always do that right before I blow a fuse,) my heart started racing, and yep.... I did it- I began to yell. Of couse a minute or so later the guilt set in. I gave them big hugs and stuck them directly in the bath. After I had them settled nicely in bed I got to have my "Me time" with a spray bottle of Resolve and a scrub sponge. An hour later I slung myself on the couch and I began to think about the day. I saw their little faces all covered in Ranch with those big eyes and smiles, and my heart ached. When I was a child I never understood it when my mom would say "MIND your temper." I always wondered, "If I mind my temper then won't I go pull my sister's hair?" "That's what my temper wants me to do!" Now, of course I know that it means to be mindful NOT to lose your temper. Being slow to anger is so under-rated.
