After the last comment that was received I realize that the water has been muddied on my post somehow. Let me first say that I am extremely happy thus far with the school that my daughter is attending. I see a great deal of love and devotion from the majority of the staff at Mercer County Intermediate School. I do not have anything negative to say about any of Havana's teachers. They have all been truly wonderful. Some of the comments posted on my blog express opinions regarding teachers but they are not my own.
Secondly, I would like to express to everyone that I do not dislike Mrs. Cobb or feel that she is not a good principal for my child's school. I have been here a very short amount of time and to say something like that would be completely unfair. She has seemed very warm and friendly at all times that I have had her acquaintance. My intentions in this post were to address a problem... a reason for concern. It was in no way meant to attack anyone on a personal level.
I did email Mrs. Cobb directly for the soul purpose of trying to receive answers without more drastic measures. Hopefully I will receive the answers that I am looking for. Creating bad blood between the community and the school is not what I want to accomplish. Much to the contrary, but I felt that it was such a strong issue that it had to be addressed. After all, my first duty is to that of my child.
I know that the staff of ALL schools in this country have been put in the hot seat and that it is a very thankless job. I appreciate everything that they do to help our children grow on a daily basis. Again, the opinions of others do not necessarily reflect my own and I intend only to deal with the issue at hand not with personal debauchery.

~ On a side note I would like to point out that my concerns are about the lack of positive reinforcements I am seeing. The assembly was the major breaker but I have also seen that there are very few rewarding words on graded papers on a daily basis as well.
Just yesterday I pulled Havana's papers out of her backpack and found that SHE had written Good Job and drawn smiley faces on her 100's. SHE was having to reward HERSELF with these comments while the teacher's comment section was stark empty.
All I'm getting at is this.... ENCOURAGE AND REWARD and all where's it due- teacher's and administration alike and you will have much happier students and parents! :)
